We had a 7.30am start for breakfast then packed up our tents for 3 hour journey to the entrance of the Ngorongoro National Park. We saw lots of Masai people on the way as well as Zebra, Wilderbeast, Giraffe, Osterich, Vultures and a Cheetah basking in the sun just before our picnic lunch stop. The stop was at the Serengeti Park entrance a popular place for picnic, the birds seem to know this spot too as well as the very large Marabou storks. Once through the entrance gate we had 24 hours to get back, or a fine would be issued to the driver. We could hear thunder and the black clouds in the distance, soon we could also smell the rain. We had been watching a tagged Lion up on a rock but had to put the top back on the truck as the rain had started. We just got the top back on before it became torrential, and the long dust track of a road became a river. It wasn't long before we were out of the rain and could see it pass over the large Serengeti plain. We had all had a long day and were tired, we reached our next camp site at 6pm. There were quite a few others here, and we had to queue for a while for a shower before it got dark, there were no lights at this site. Our evening meal was Spaghetti, very tasty! We all went to our tents for an early night, we had to be up to start our early morning game drive at 6am.
