What present can you possibly give a 16 year old that they will remember for years to come?

Nadine turned 16 on the 6th of January. They were visiting for a month and were returning to South Africa the next day. I wanted to do something special for her and asked her what she thought about the idea of skydiving in Buenos Aires? She told me to give her time to think about it. She was scared but as the time went by she stated to warm up to the idea!

So we found a company on the internet but the evening before her birthday they cancelled. One of the aeroplanes had problems and they couldn't fix it in time. She was devastated and frankly so was I. Time was running out and I started to look for another company. This is when I found a company called Skydive BA.

What an impressive company. i phoned them about 10 in the evening and they came to the hostel within an hour. They explained everything to her, collected the money and made arrangements for us to be transferred to Los Lobos just outside of the city the next morning. She was so excited and couldn't sleep the night before.

7.3o the next morning we were transported to the air field. You are picked up from Avenida de Mayo. It was +- a 2 hour ride out of the city. When we arrived there allot of people were waiting to jump. We waited for about 2 hours before it was her turn. They gave her instructions and congratulated her on her birthday. I don't know who was more excited! Off she went.....

The actual jump was at an altitude of 12.000 feet (3800 mts) and she enjoy the sensation of freefalling for one 29 seconds.
She could not see the what was hapenning behind her. The woman behind her was getting ready to jump.
They reached speeds of more than 200 Km/h (125 miles per hour)! Plus 6 to 8 minutes of flying with an open parachute until landing. It was a tandem jump.

She didn't want to come down. They were up in the sky for ages. it was wonderful to see. When she eventually came down she did a perfect landing. Her first words were: "Ah this is so cool!"

The staff of Los Lobos were incredible. They took care of her, made her feel special and she told me that the camera man and the instructor kept on talking to her. She had a wonderful time. But what touched me the most was when she hugged me and told me:
"Mommy this changed my life. Now I know that I can do anything!!"

Thank you Skydive BA for making this day so special for Nadine. It is a 16th birthday that she will never forget!
