So today we work up decently early to try to avoid the traffic at the Dam. We went to check out but they were having trouble and spent 30 minutes inline when a guy took down our name to check us out later in the day so we could leave! We stopped at the Vegas sign on the way out of town, not too exciting but still cool. We drove the hourish to the Dam. Didn't encounter any traffic which was awesome. We also got to purchase the Dam Tour for about an hour later. We did the small museum and did the lookout station. By this time it was time for our tour. They took us to the generators, area over the pipe the water flows in, and into the Dam. Found out the only reason the tour was being offered is the Dam is short on money and needs more revenue to pay for the new Visitor's Center that was required after September 11th.
Cool bridge they are building
We also got to see the large bridge being build so traffic can avoid the Dam, also due to September 11th. Spent about 3-4 hours total at the Dam and then headed on the road. We decided to try to make it to Flagstaff and called ahead and book a room for $50 for the night! We arrived right before dinner and watched a bit of the Olympics. During this time we found out the Diner, Dives, and Drive-ins guy had been to Flagstaff to some Mexican place. After driving around lost due to 2 wrong GPS's, stopping at a gas station for directions, and calling the restaurant we finally made it! Food was awesome, can't remember the name but I enjoyed it!
