I traveled to the Acadian (french influenced)land of Nova Scotia, Canada, a remarkably scenic place where the mountains meet the sea... My time was consumed with whale watching and photographing the beauty around me.

Are you a fan of Anne of Green Gables? If the answer is yes, I strongly advise you against visiting Cavendish, Prince Edward Island. My mother and I had always enjoyed the films so we decided to visit the museum. The experience, though comedic, was horrible. As we walked the museum, tourists stared, gaping with awe, at my mother. She was a strawberry blonde with freckles and fair skin. We walked out of the woods and a tourist started snapping pictures of her.

Upon visiting the gift shop, we saw the same hideous painting on ..everything. get it here, anne of green gables "china" which really consisted of a horrid drawing placed crookedly on a plate.. afghans, cups, videos, chairs, oven mitts, purses, dolls, ornaments- all adorned with the same print. It's like it blew up all over the store... It was like some horrible nightmare...

Cavendish is a tourist trap anyway. We expected a quaint and charming place, but we found about 12 different mini amusement park type things, and miscellanious traps along the way.

Our sole retreat from this hideous trap was going to the Prince Edward Island dunes and red rocks. If you plan to visit Cavendish, I advise you to skip the main drag and head only to the beach. However, be well aware that the beaches are part of a national park and that you may not take any shells...
