Along Gil Fernando Ave, Marikina

Today's blog remnds me of the famous Mr Benny Chan of Leathal Weapon 4.  LOL!  I don't know why, but it makes me think about his famous line whenever I dine at a Chinese Restaurant, hehe,  and so I'm making it the title of this entry.

It's mum's birthday today and I've been thinking of a place where to bring her since last night.  I wanted to eat something I was craving for and at the same time fits my budget- masked as a gift but really based on my ulterior motives, haha! But hey, for mothers it's the time spent together and the effort that counts, right! ;)

I crave for Chinese once in awhile, and this was the perfect time I was craving for it.  And so I decided on a new branch of a favorite Chinese restaurant I saw on the way to the emission testing center in Marikina when I had my car registration renewed last month.

I never noticed it before so I thought it just opened recently.  After doing some research, apparently it opened around October last year- well, I seldom pass through Gil Fernando Ave., only when I renew the registration or accompany my mum to the Marikina market (seldom..I hate markets!) , so I guess that's why. :p

The food we ordered wasn't exactly chinese, like noodles, or flied lice (ha ha)... but it has been a favorite of mine for years and I can only order it (the way I like it) at Hap Chan Tea House.  Come to think of it, it has been a looong time since I last ordered it... Reminds me of early-morning-after-drinking-cravings with my best club-hopping buddy! Haha!

This branch of Hap Chan seems to have lesser items in their menu though (like cut in half?)- but all the good and popular ones are still listed:  like beef brisket, dimsums, meats/seafood cooked in tausi or S&P, the various noodle choices, veggies, fried rice combis, and the yummy desserts.

As for me, I'm glad to have a Hap Chan branch nearby for my Steamed Fish Fillet with Garlic (sounds simple but oh so yummy- there's more to it than being steamed!) cravings so I don't have to go all the way to Makati Ave or Market!Market! just to eat it. :)

So if you live in the vicinity of Marikina, Cainta Rizal, Pasig, or even Antipolo, check out the new branch at Sunrise Bldg. along Mayor Gil Fernando Ave., just after the LTO, but on the opposite side of the road. It's the same good stuff!
