Year of the Tiger - 2010

Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) - Chun Jie in China. There is not a good deal of public merriment, but the streets are decorated, and it is a family affair mostly. However, fireworks do ignite the city in every direction from dusk until dawn. I had the pleasure to be invited by a family for Chun Jie celebration. I enjoyed the experience, and consider it an honor and delight to see a friend of mine with family from inside China. We had lasting conversation that night...

I saw some sights in and around Beijing too. An interesting City in a fascinating country. It's a mix of traditional and modern - more modern than I expected. China has entered the 21st century with grace and self-control of the Crane, suppleness and rhythmic endurance of the Snake, speed and patience of the Praying Mantis, tenacity and power of the Tiger, and from the Dragon has learned to ride the wind. I hope to return to China again in the future and see more of the country. Beijing was a good introduction to the culture. As usual, my representation in pictures cannot really capture an experience. I try to give just a scenario - a slice of life. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Chun Jie - Welcome to Year of the Tiger
