Another Day of Exploration

Today was another fun day! We had a bit of a late start getting out of the house, but hey, no rush, right? After heading out of the house, we went straight for the North Shore. There was a beach in Princeville that Norwood wanted to check out because he had heard it had a huge reef and had good snorkeling, so off we went. The beach was boasted spectacular views of the coastline and of the lighthouse at Kilauea. Trees led up to the warm, sandy beach; and the waters were crystal clear. The snorkeling, however, was good, but not as good as some of the other spots we have explored so far on this trip. Still, we had a great time and saw some cool fish and a ton of sea cucumbers. I spent some time relaxing in the sun while Norwood snorkeled a little while longer, and then we were off.
Our next stop was Queen's Bath, which unfortunately was way too crowded to find a parking spot, so we decided to postpone that one for next time we head up to the North shore.
We were hungry, however, so we headed over to Hanalei where we stopped at Bubba's Burgers. I had a delicious Gardenburger with teriyaki and pineapple added to it, and Norwood had a double burger with teriyaki and pineapple.
I also went to a tattoo parlor and got a cool henna tattoo of a sea turtle in Hanalei :)
We next decided that we wanted to try one of the famous "cold coconuts" that we see advertised at little fruit stands all over the island. the first fruit stand we tried was a bust because they were already sold out for the day, but it wasn't a total bust because a really hilarious drag queen was running the stand, which is always fun.
So, the quest for a cold coconut began. We tried another fruit stand we saw only to discover it was closed.... :(
But then...we saw a craft fair that was open and decided to try our luck, and there, lo and behold, was a booth selling none other than cold coconuts! Hooray! My dream of having a drink out of a coconut is finally a reality! But seriously, it was pretty cool...but too bad Norwood doesn't like coconut that much because it was a LOT of coconut water to drink all by myself!!! hahaha!
We took the coconut home so we can cut it open and eat the fruit part of it as well :)
Next we were off to a beach that looked like it had good waves for boogie boards, but also had about a million warning signs. Most tide, danger: shore break, etc. Those were okay, because the waves looked calm today, but then we came across a sign that said: Danger: Sharp Coral. We decided this wasn't the beach for us to go in the water, hahaha.
After that it was off to the Sheraton in Poipu to take advantage of their easily accessed jacuzzi. We relaxed there for a bit and talked to some old guys who gave us some tips about good snorkel spots they had found. Sweet.
Good day....tomorrow's going to be even better!!!
