Had a long, great night sleep....and because of that little piece of break, we missed watching the Women's GS that was cancelled yesterday....AAACCKK!! =*( It didn't dawn on either of us to check what time the competition was going to start....maybe the idea did pop into my head at some point for a split second late last night, but thought that I naturally wake up early anyway(though ONLY on vacations days) that I'd at least be able to catch it on time...a total missed opportunity. Be that as it may, we didn't medaled in that competition anyway.

The other activity we wanted to check out was the Peak-to-Peak Experience ("The journey between the two Mountains provides a 360-degree window into Whistler Blackcomb’s alpine environment, its surrounding peaks, changing seasons and wildlife habitat, but sightseeing is just the start of your adventure.

Looking for an epic hike to an ancient glacier? A gentle stroll on an alpine walking trail? A tour of black bear habitat? High tea at an alpine hut? Wine tasting on a mountain-top patio? The choice is yours with the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola. Access 50+ kilometres of hiking trails spread over 19 trails, including six new options on Blackcomb Mountain. From easy to epic, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy an array of mountain-top dining options or take advantage of a collection of other activities. With the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola one day will never be enough")...I REALLY wanted to do this. After harassing my friend to hustle to get ready so as to be able to fit lunch and not to miss peak-to-peak hours...but when we did get to the ticket booth, was informed that the tour ended at noon.

...WAAAAAAAAAHZZ!!!!!! Awful, just awful. Now, why didn't I look up the hours for that at least?! I was actually more disappointed missing this over watching the Women's GS competition.

So with that, we were left with total a free day to just lounge....and EAT.

They have been replaying the Women's Bob Sleigh awards ceremony for the last 24 hours here now...

My (first) Olympic attendance experience has exceeded my personal expectations, but off course with nothing to compare it to except for what I see on TV, I give it two thumbs up and 4 snaps around the world! I may not be an Olympian, but the experience has been the stuff of dreams, truly. I still can't believe that I am here...truly owning and displaying pride for my adopted country, and wonder how my country is currently responding and reacting to these games, both for its wins and losses.

...for taking part in the activities in the world's biggest stage...witnessing exemplary unity and diversity...that young people can be passionate and believe on something greater than themselves...and that for one brief and temporary moments in time, the world seems to be at peace. It saddens me that this positive and optimistic attitude will all too soon disappear and be quickly forgotten, as it always does...I'm going to miss the thousands of light blue apparel-clad volunteers that visitors would run in/to every ten steps, from the underground stations, bus, and sidewalks! Both Canada and Canadians have truly endeared themselves to me; the experience was truly enhanced by their generosity and quality personalities of its locals.

On a side note, I kind of don't like the US Olympic team's apparel designed by Ralph Lauren (no less), though I did purchase a sweater =S because I just don't find them as snazzy, though Americana, there's something off about the impact.

Canada has better apparel all around, I mean, just take for example the now famous red and white mittens with the maple logo on the palm?!?! With one standout exception, the red/black/white caps they sported....eeeehh.

Another observation...I don't think that the athletes are the only one who is competitive with each other, the media too, between the US and Canadian media it seems anyway. They just reported a piece on how the US media has been unkind to the host country....eeekkksss!!

Tomorrow, we fly back (I hate flying) and cheer for our athletes from the quietness of our homes....sigh.

I'd like to remember my experiences here as penned by Canada's poet, Shane Koyczan:
....Canada is the "what" in "what's new?" so don't say "been there done that" unless you've sat on the sidewalk while chalk artists draw still lifes on the concrete of a kid in the street beat boxing to Neil Young for fun don't say you've been there done that unless you've been here doing it let this country be your first-aid kit for all the times you get sick of the same old same old let us be the story told to your friends and when that story ends leave chapters for the next time you'll come back next time pack for all the things you didn't pack for the first time but don't let your luggage define your travel seach life unravels differently and experiences are what make up the colours of our tapestry we are the true north strong and free and what's more is that we didn't just say it we made it be.
