Derek impressed with the sizes of Nawlin's beer!
This was Derek & I's first trip there together. It was great to show him my home town through my eyes.he did visit once for a few days on business before we met,but there is nothing like experiencing New Orleans
through a locals eyes.Espescially with my New Orleans Saints winning the NFC Championship & Superbowl! New Orleans is like no other place on earth on any given day,but no words can describe the feeling in the air because of the Saints huge wins beings it was both their 1st NFC & Superbowl Championship wins! Everywhere you looked every race, shape and creed were as one! Even St.Judes church had a saints jersey on the statue of St.Jude outside! Though I missed getting that pic.
Also the statue of Joan of Arc on Decatur streets flag was covered with a saints flag, that one I did get a pic of. Everyone wore huge smiles ear to ear whether or not they were from New Orleans! All you could see was Black & Gold EVERYWHERE you looked.Music always fills the air everywhere in New Orleans, but was mainly filled with people shouting Who Dat?! and Saints songs every block you walked! The Spirit of Louisiana has to be experienced to truly be appreciated,it is always in the air there, but this was so special it was like heaven on earth.Blain Kern who is Mr.Mardi Gras had a special parade just for the Saints and the Krewe of Bacchus made our quarterback Drew Brees their king.Normally the king would be some hollywood star, but after all of the heartache my dear state went through due to Hurricane Katrina, there could not have been a more perfect choice for the King of Bacchus! Even though I know that these were extraordinary circumstances, the timing for our Saints to win it all could not have come at a better time! I was truly blessed to be able to go home to see & feel it all,but to share it with Derek was so dear to me I can't begin to express how special that week was to me.It was bitter sweet though as it always is each time I visit home it gets harder & harder to leave it again, but maybe one day I will be able to go back for good. Til then I will enjoy the beautiful State of West Virginia and be happy for all the blessings in my life.
