One day I took an eco-tour out to the Blasket Islands. I had a great time, our guide knew so much about the geology and the wild life of the area, it really was amazing. I never thought I'd see puffins, sharks, seals and dolphins on the Irish Coast. Dingle has one very famous dolphin, "Fungie." Now, he is so famous that they even have a statue of him in the middle of the town. God bless the Irish. (But, they also have a statue of Bill Clinton in Ballybunion outside the Garda Station...) So any dolphin that you see is going to be "Fungie." It was fine for me, I was still pretty excited to see this dolphin jumping along our boat. I felt like a little kid, trying to snap pictures in time to have one of him jumping. (I didn't get one.. but I tried!)
Dingle, like the rest of Ireland in summer, is supported majorly by tourism. So, they are keen to deliver what you want to see in Ireland. Having an Irish father and visiting as often as we did growing up, I like to think I know when they're putting on it thick. But sometimes it's fun to go along with it and listen to a trad session. Perhaps working in the hospitality industry in Ireland has made me bitter, but as an American, I know they love it over here, and really- it's a good time. Hope you enjoy the pictures!
