Our first stop this morning was at Mrs. Macquarie's Chair at the Royal Botanical Gardens. From this park, you have fabulous views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House and skyline. It is a great place to take many pictures. One of Russell Crowe's houses is adjacent to the park. After we had our fill of snapping photos, we drove over to the Sydney Opera House for a tour. We were fortunate because they usually only allow you to take photographs from outside and in the corridors. However on this day, there were no sets on the main opera house stage and no one working, so we were allowed to take pictures inside. In between visiting each of the five venues, videos are projected on the inside of the concrete shells showing the history of Jorn Utzon's design and erection of the facility.
We then drove around Sydney Harbour and stopped at world famous Bondi Beach.
After the cruise, we visited the National Opal Collection where we were shown a video of how opal is formed. Opal is the national stone of Australia and several different types were on display and available for purchase. We ate dinner in Darling Harbour again, this time at a very good Spanish restaurant called Toros.
