The Beauty of Queenstown

After we checked into the lovely Queenstown Millennium Hotel, we took a scenic drive along the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Queenstown is surrounded by beauty with mountains on all sides and picturesque Lake Wakatipu wrapping around the town. We then took a Skyline gondola up to Bob's Peak. While the name sounds a little hokey, the view is absolutely breathtaking. There were many paragliders (parapenters) in the sky that made for even more striking photograph opportunities. Bob's Peak offers several adventure activities such as a bungee jumping platform and a luge course. There is also a buffet restaurant and a Maori haka experience.
After we came back down the sky lift, we had an easy walk (downhill) into the main shopping and eating area of Queenstown, which is maybe about 3 blocks by 3 blocks. We ate dinner at an Indian place called Tandoori Palace. There was no one eating there when we first came in for dinner at 8:30, which was a little scary, but more people came in afterwards and the meal was very good.
