Duta Homestay- who doesn't want to stay for the price ?
I think I’ve just entering off-the-beaten-path region. I’ve seen none international tourist. The bus dropped passengers at Wonosobo
bus terminal and I didn’t know where to go. Only the adress of the homestay written on used paper. Starving, I had nasi goreng (fried rice) at the stall infront and asked the seller how to get to the address. And anywhere outside touristy area, there are real locals without any ulterior motif. The food was great and cheap, he even draw the map of how should I reach the homestay!
By Angkot I continued to Wisma Duta Homestay some 3 km further. It was pouring rain and I found, from the look of it I just thought this just too good to be true. Too luxury for the backpacker’s price I read. Got inside the gate and rang the bell, Bapak Helly said there’s no availabity and I should have booked it earlier.
Wonosobo to Dieng Plateau
He looked me from head to toe, I was wet all over, asked how I knew his homestay. Lonely Planet of-course, he let me in gave a tour to his luxury twin-bed, 4 in total - for 300,000 Rp. I would think that’s the right price for a cozy Bali-type accommodation. I talked him out and he finally agrees, “BUT ssshhhs don’t tell anyone, pay me for 100,000 Rp only” That’s 70% discounted price...SWEET ! He was agreed only for 50% at the beginning but I somehow had wisdom getting to that amount haha.
This is the place to cash the fleas on the bed I had the entire night in Yogyakarta
