Today weâ€™re traveling from Hassan to Hospet, and since this is quite a long distance, most of the day will be spend in Ajitâ€™s bus. The main reason for the long drive is the fact that there are no highways.
In order to make the day a little less dull, tour leader Digna arranges that Ajit stops the bus every couple of hours. He then waits for about half an hour so we can walk down the road ourselves and stretch our legs a bit. Once Ajit starts driving again, he picks everyone up again.
During one of these walks we see a so-called Bodhi tree by the road. The original Bodhi tree was a large and very old sacred tree in northern
Apart from itâ€™s unusual shape (roots seem to come from the branches and nest into the ground again so the tree gets larger and wider), itâ€™s a beautiful tree that can take from a 100 to 3,000 years to fully grow.
