Syracuse, New York city square.
My adventure in the city of Syracuse
, New York was a pleasant one. If you travel there you must remember not to count on anyone to give you help in finding locations. New Yorkers are not helpful people. I do admit the people upstate are pleasant compared to those in NYC. You must be careful in Syracuse. One wrong turn and you will end up in drug central. This is an experience I had looking for the Mohawk building. Nothing but druggies, drunks, prostitutes, dirty streets. Really a sad city. Though I did find many bright spots. I suggest visiting the city center. It was just after Christmas and it still felt like the season. Ice skating, Christmas trees, a good feeling. The square of Syracuse is a wonderful place with a fantastic war memorial. For some reason I am attracted to war memorials. The large memorial celebrated the lives of Americans, from Revolutionary war to the present. One thing I enjoyed at upstate is the revolutionary war history. Being from California you never get the feel for the history. The left coast and the right coast are two different worlds. East is more British/American history. West is Spanish/American. To visit the historical places of upstate satisfied my historical apitite.
