Paris - Day Three

Amore e Psiche

On day three we woke up early and headed straight to the Louvre before it opened in order to beat the lines. We probably spent two or three hours wandering through the museum and could have spent a lot longer but our colds and the crowds were really wearing us down and all we could think about was getting some fresh air so we decided to leave. We were disappointed that we couldn't see everything (which is impossible in one day anyways) but we did make sure to visit the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo and my personal favorites, Winged Victory and Amore e Psiche.

After leaving the Louvre, we headed towards the Opera Garnier (inspiration for 'The Phantom of the Opera' musical) and revisited the spot we had stopped for lunch at during the tour the day before, Aux Pauis-Perde.

Champs d'elysees
The pre-made baguette sandwiches there were so delicious, as were the build-it-yourself salads, that we just had to go back and get some more. After lunch, we wandered through the Jardin de Tuileries until we found ourselves at the Champs d'elysees. We wandered down the avenue all the way to the Arc de Triomphe and climbed the nearly 200 steps to the top. The views were lovely and we were happy to be able to take the iconic shot looking down the Champs d'elysees.

After the Arc de Triomphe, we headed back to the grocery store near our hostel and stocked up on bread, cheese, meat, wine and strawberries (our standard grocery store meal in France) for a picnic dinner at the hostel. Another early night as our colds were really dragging us down in the evening.
