Paris - Day Five

On our fifth morning in Paris we successfully made our way out to Versailles. We purchased our tickets at the tourist office along the main road to the Chateau thinking that would help us bypass some of the lines but when we arrived we realized that there were actually two lines, one to buy the tickets and then another to reach the entrance. It was a good thing that we bought our tickets at the tourist office though because, even though we had made an early start that morning, we still ended up waiting in the line for the entrance for nearly three hours. When we finally got in, we spent a good amount of time wandering around the palace which was fascinating but the gardens were definitely our favorite part of our visit to Versailles. We spent about three hours relaxing on the grass near the canal and wandering the area but we should have rented a bike because there was too much to cover by foot and we didn't get to visit the other buildings. We headed back to Paris in the late afternoon and spent our last evening wondering around the Montmartre area again before heading back to the hostel to pack for our train ride to Bruges the next morning.
All in all, despite the rain and being sick, we absolutely adored Paris. The art, the culture, the history, the cuisine, and the architecture were all fascinating and we had nothing but good experiences with the locals attitudes towards us ... and yes, it was very romantic.
