On our first full day in Bruges we made the best of having a private room and slept in before enjoying the amazing breakfast that our hosts made for us. There was tea, coffee, juice, boiled eggs, buns, ham, cheese, pastries and more and we had so much food left over that we ended up packing it up to take for a picnic lunch that afternoon. Considering we would spend the next three and a half months eating the toast and tea breakfasts offered by our hostels, this was definitely the best breakfast of the entire trip.

Anyways, our mission for the day was to do as little as possible, which was definitely needed after all the sight-seeing of Paris, so we ended up heading towards the canals and finding a spot in the grass to chill out. We spent nearly five hours in the same spot, reading our books, eating our picnic and napping in the warm sun. There was also some sort of marathon happening in the city that day and the route ran along our little canal spot so there was lots of entertainment watching locals cheering them on and shooting the runners with water guns to cool them down. It was so lovely to be able to do absolutely nothing for a whole afternoon without feeling like there were things we 'needed' to be doing.

Later in the afternoon, we headed back to our room to change and then spent the evening wandering around Bruges canals and alleyways again.
