Uptown Dalian at the bus depot / train station

Greetings, travel fans, my apologizes in such a delay in writing / updating my blog… but, getting settled in with class routine, meeting assistant Chinese teachers, knowing one’s schedule, preparing lesson plans … etc, etc, may certainly drive anyone crazy.

As you know when I first arrived, most of you know that I had played musical apartment locations to flatmates…from there I sort of settled in and made my apartment comfortable. However, although the apartment is approximately the same size as the other from former campus, tis design make tis place much smaller, but I can say, YES, I have a separate kitchen area!

Again, the six flight of stairs saves me money for signing up at a gym for cardiovascular and aerobic workouts… there’s a plus!

I certainly liked the idea that training was involved and foreign teachers were quickly introduced to their Chinese teacher assistants.

Have plans to take photo of tis icon at night, bet when lit looks fantastic!
Fantastic! However, after the formalities then came, ok, we have two hours to prepare for Saturday and Sunday classes (training was Wednesday and Thursday, then teachers’ introduction meeting on Friday) … I’m ready to pull my hair out.

Getting assigned books was pure chaotic (finally got all the correct books necessary in conducting the classes assigned), getting to know one’s Chinese Teacher assistant was fun, I was writing notes and becoming familiar with them (Saturday 5 classes duration of two hours, and Sunday 6 classes, same except for two which were only 30 minutes). The books were slightly – that’s being quite polite – with great extreme confusing. In truth, I felt lost… two months of no class preparations, I felt unprepared.

Saturday wasn’t too bad, however, when Sunday came, I wasn’t prepared for the kindergarten level children.

The same here, that's till the weather becomes warmer and I can hold the camera still.
Tis like being a woman put into a room full of handsome men… you’re probably thinking 'What of kind of metaphor is that?'. Well, when you have the parent sitting with their child, and as a foreign teacher, you are being judged (which is very true in tis case) by the mother. Oh, the agony… I never dealt with children tis young … oh, the struggle…

Nevertheless, finally came Monday in which was recovery day, but had training that morning... duration till lunch time. I returned to apartment and started preparing lesson plans for tis forthcoming weekend.

Then Tuesday was my exploration and photo day… however, tis still cold in Dalian, and those winds were brutal!! Although I wore demin pants, I could feel the ice bite through and onto my skin.

what the sign says
I didn’t go as far as I wanted… as far as the train station and then I returned to homebase. The sun was shining so I did get a few great shots here and there.. as the weather warms, I’ll take night shots for the city becomes alive with illumination and all is an outline of neon lights.

I was told earlier tis week that the kindergarten parents were complaining about me because I wasn’t doing certain activates with their children, but I did get a few bonus points because I was very ‘sweet’ in confirming their answers and showed LOTS of patience… me? Patience? Ooohhh… such trait comes with maturity.

Today is my shopping day, so, must get ready and meet with Nature, the school’s accountant, then together we’re off. She has plans to show me bargain stores and areas of the city, so later when I’m on my own I can do the same.

Author’s last note: Although I’m siphoning internet signals through wireless, TravBuddy site usually ‘hangs’ during uploading or never completes, I should have permanent wire connection soon… so pardon the delays
