Clarion Hotel, Dublin Airport

Today we decided that we would stay in a hotel near the airport. Firstly, although we could have stayed in Jill´s place in Blackrock, she associated that with studying, and also it would be miles away from the airport so we booked the Clarion for 100 euro and stayed there instead.
The drive to Dublin was very pain free, especially for a Friday, and it only took us 3 and a half hours to get from the Statoil garage in Frankfield, Cork to the hotel in Dublin Airport. It was a pleasant trip with not much traffic troubles! Note to anyone who´s making this trip in the future that Abbeyleix can take a long time to get through, so don´t expect to be as lucky as we were!
When we arrived we were both very disappointed by the exterior of the Clarion. It is a 4 star hotel and yet from the outside it looked like a Travelodge or other cheap accommodation. We parked the car in the busy hotel car park and when we stepped inside the hotel our fears of it being a dive were quickly alleviated as the place had a beautiful interior! There was a minor issue with check in (we booked through NeedAHotel.com) but within a few minutes we were sorted and were up in our room.
The room was nice but simple, exactly what you´d expect from a 100 euro a night hotel room. It had a decent bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, a trouser press, an empty minibar that was filled on request, a hairdryer, and a TV with movies, adult movies, PlayStation and other premium features. We ate in Kudos, the hotel restaurant, which was very nice, and then returned to our room.
It´s not the cheapest place in the world but it is a nice place so we´d highly recommend staying here to anyone who needs to stay near Dublin airport in the future.
