Today I decided to head to sharjah to do a little haggling and check out some historical sites.

My place of choice was Souk Al Arash, which is easy to find, and is a sort of covered area of shops that is nice and cool.

First thing to note is that this is the most laid back "souk" I have ever been too.... no animals, no toutes, no beggars, no performers.... you know where's the love?  The souk itself was filled with people comming in from bus tours of the japanese variety.  So what was for sale?  The first interesting thing was, lots of nazi stuff, like what the hell?  Apparently they're hoping for a group of white supramacists will visit sharjah, which makes very little sense.  Yes thats right, come to the souk al arash to get you're hail hitler propaganda, iron crosses, swatiska arm bands, and old storm trooper helmets..... like huh?

So besides the blatant antisemitism there are some places with pretty cool stuff.  One popular item is old iraqi money with sadam hussien on it.  Other things for sale are lots of metally necklaces, carpets, swords, axes, useless statues, you know stuff like that.  I bought meself some carpet type things, and a decrorative ax.  Cool.  Haggling is a much and one of the funner aspects, I didn't do THAT well this time, usually picking up abot a 45 % discount plus a throw in item.  A good benchmark is to get fifty percent off, but 45 % is not bad when you have the rich white guy with a mustache label.

Also Sharjah fort is closed for remodelling, however if you want a peak bribe the gaurd.
