Without them the experience would be totally different. We shared unique moments, such as getting hammered by a summer shower walking the Willemsburg Bridge, biking and skating the Brooklyn Bridge, watch a black and white movie on a monday night in the park along hundreds of people surrounded by the tallest buildings, ate tasty vegan vietnamese food, watch the 4th of july fireworks, and hit a couple of bars!
When I was alone, I did some serious walking, visiting MOMA (loved it!!!), Guggenheim (it had a Frank Lloyd Wright exhibition!!), Empire State, Top of the Rock (in a rainy afternoon, awesome views), Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island (really a sacred building.. with a lot of memories inside), Central Park (I actually slept there - rough night, travelled from a one-day trip in Boston during the night, when back in NY, i lost my wallet on the subway, 6am, penniless -literally- and nowhere to go: central park), Times Square, etc etc...
I later recovered the wallet.. a fine young man contacted me, cause i had written my email on a Moleskine.. (which I also lost, and feel really sad cause I had made too many drawings and sketches...) turns out, this guy later send me another email proposing himself to me.. sad story hahah no homo..
So thats just a little part of my trip...
