What a life: jacuzzi and a Heineken on Saba

The next stop on my trip through the Caribbean was Saba, a tiny little island that is a part of the Netherlands Antilles and that is situated just south from Saint Martin. Flying there would have taken me 12 minutes, but since taking the boat was a cheaper option I took the boat that took 2 hours to get there. Friends of my family have a house there and they were happy to welcome me there and show me around on this natural wonder. The unspoiled queen, as Saba is called...

I spent four days on the island, and in that time it is possible to see almost everything that is there. The island only measures 4 by 3 kilometres and has only one road. Highlights here are the underwater world and the walking trails that used to be the only way to get around Saba. That's why I went diving there (and spotted my first turtles and octopusses) and went hiking towards the highest point of the Dutch Kingdom: Mount Scenery.

After four days of being spoiled on Saba, I had to leave again with the same boat that I came with. I was impressed by how much an island of only 12 square kilometres and with only 2000 inhabitants had to offer...
