Crowd gathering for a "bloco" street band

My roomies arrived and the tiny apartment is now really full. Eddie arrived well after doing 3 weeks up north. Rob arrived after 24 hrs in transit and delayed, only to find that we had given up waiting for him and were at the beach. He was in a dire state when I finally spotted him lugging his backpack across Copacabana beach in 40 degree heat. Anyway they´re great guys (I guess renting an apartment with total strangers that turn out to be really nice people is one of the great things about TB) and we´re starting to gear up towards the Carnival frenzy like the whole city.

Went to see one of the "blocos" in Ipanema, neighbourhood samba bands that usually parade through the streets followed by a throng of people (this one was called "Vem Ni Mim Que Sou Facinha", something I cannot translate without risking a ban :D). People were getting pretty drunk by the time the band started playing - mainly on cachaça sold in 2 foot long plastic tubes - and there was merryness all around. Snogging total strangers is totally acceptable during Carnival, as long as their better halve is not around of course.

And yep, I´m still defrosting and trying to shake the work mindset, damn I do need this time off from everything :)

Was I really in that bad of shape! I know I felt like a train wreck but it did get better from there!
