After breakie in the jungle we needed to asend a little back towards the mountains to Banos, the centre for adventure (and drinknig) in ecuador. it was paddys day as well so jerseys were donned and we set off for the town back through the jungle and up those dam windy roads. our hotel was quite funky on the outskirts of the town and we had a great view from our room to the waterfall. we got a brief presentations of the activities we could do for a few days and when we decided we had a stroll around town before stopping in on a place with happy hour so Cuba Libres and Pilsner all around. after this it was off to the leprachaun bar for a few socialables but unfortuately we were both feeling a little ropey so we couldn stay out as long as we would have liked.

but we hoped a decent night sleep would set us up for tomorrow.

a not to early start and we set off for whitewaterrafting. we geared up, drove 30 mins to the site and after a brief demonstration we were off. we were placed in the smallest boat which we were told was the quickest but we were not told it was the most unstable. so on cue on a small rapid at the start the boat flipped and under we went. me and katie got stuck under the boat and paniced a little. it took us 5 minutes to get the boat flipped over and back on board (my fault) all shattered but we had to quickly recover as the rapids came quick and fast. luckily at the half way point we got out of the boats for a break and we got to recover especially mo who was white as a ghost. not much went wrong after and we got to the end ok.

back at the hotel we had a little stroll around town before back to the bus and off for a bridge swing over a 100m metre drop. the junp is slightly different to a bungee as there is no elasticity in the rope but the rope is fixed another point on the bridge so you jump in an arc. mo couldnt face the jump so she was on camera duty! i was aparently the bravest so up i got and didnt it fairly ok with no major issues. Will dropped straight down instead of jumping out and got a bit of a wedgie. KAtie and Lorenza did "pussy jumps" where the guide drops you instead of a jump. Katie took 20m to jump. it was hard work as she was terrified. but she did it in the end so well done!

next morning we went canyoning down a river. mo was quite scared and was debating pulling out but she battled on and really enjoyed it in the end.

Mo on the zipline
we did 3 absails down waterfalls, 3 jumps into plunge pools and a zipline over another. was a great morning and afterwards we went to a trout farm where we had an included lunch. it was some piece of fish! in the afternoon we went back to the bridge jump where dan completely chickened out, got to the site couldnt do it so it was back to the van to get to the zipline. i did a 550m one into a cave over a raging river which was very good. mo did a shorter one over the valley of 220m. all the activities we did cost us under 80euro which we couldn belive so we had a great couple of days. that evening it was off to Jack Rock Cafe - yes its a blatent rip off. we got ourselfs fairly drunk and had a fantastic night getting to know each other and enjoying the local scene. got to bed at like 4,30 am and we had to be up at 7am. we paid for it the next day!
