Rainy start to the day
We took a 3 week road trip up and down the coast between DC and Maine on our trip back to the States. The timing of everything worked out perfectly and we ended up driving through Pennsylvania during opening weekend of Sesame Place. As an added bonus, Anheuser Busch, which owns Sesame Place, was running their annual "Heroes Salute" program, which give military members and their dependents free entry to one of their parks once a year. So that saved us $120 on tickets. Woo hoo!

It started out as a very rainy morning and I was worried that it might not even open. We checked out of our hotel, got directions to the park and then headed to IHOP for some breakfast. The rain seemed to be letting up, so we had our breakfast and headed to visit Elmo and all his little friends.
Very light crowds
We got our tickets and went in and were pleasantly surprised to see that there were not many people there. Other people must have decided not to take their chances with the rain. After about a half hour, the rain stopped and the sun came out. So we ended up with great weather and no crowds. Lucky us!

With no crowds, we had virtually no wait for most attractions. We got to see most of the characters without waiting and only had to wait in line for one or two rides (and even that was a short wait.) The park is small, but fun. We missed out on the whole water section because of the early visit (it was warm, but still too cold for that!) and a few attractions we too wet from the rain earlier in the day, so we skipped those. We spent about 4 hours there and then our two year old had had enough and was ready for a nap. He was asleep before we made it to the parking lot.
