Just a Good Ole Boy and one jumping general lee!
The morning started off better with no fights and we got an earlier start. We went straight to John Schneider's autograph line except for my parents. After 1 & 1/2 hours, our group of 5 kept dwindling, Emily started crying & Kenny left with her, Danielle followed shortly, then Lydia. It was just me & my camera left to meet John (Bo Duke) Schneider. So I waited another hour and I got to meet John and what a nice man he was! He thanked me for coming out and said it was nice to meet me. Well it was MY pleasure, John! he he! He looks as good now as he did on the show! Maybe even better. :) Well, my Dukefest was made. I didn't care after that.
We watched the events at the motorplex which included a wrestling match with about 10 people in the ring (so fake!) and a band that did a Waylon Jennings tribute.
They were ok but I don't like females singing Waylon. lol Finally the cast was once again on stage: Daisy, Bo, Cooter and Enis. The song "Just a Good Ole Boy" was heard once again. But it seems as if Dukes fans can't see when they are sitting down because everyone proceded to stand during the whole stage set and then again for the entire stunt show! I don't know why people have to do this. People behind us were complaining about the people in front of us and the people behind them along with me. I barely saw the stunts but what I did see was pretty good. The sheriff's car did a jump and landed right in the back of a trailer, going throughg it. John was the host and he said that was supposed to happen. The last one was the General Lee jumping in mid air with a perfect landing that we got a video of. :) which I posted. With that ended Dukefest and the weather held up nicely for us as we went downtown and per Kenny's request, we ate at Demo's again. Yea!! Did I mention how I love this restaurant! Back at the hotel, all Lydia wanted to do was go in the pool, so her & Emily were very happy as they got to be in the pool for about 2 hours. We left early the next morning so the rental van would be back in time. The kids held up pretty well, better than the adults. To be honest, I liked Dukefest but not as much as the CMA festival. I think to really enjoy it, you should be a die-hard Duke fan. My brother states he is going again next year. The verdict is still out for me.
