Traveling across the roof of South America by planes, trains, boats and other means. Come along as I see South America for the first time. A vintage travel journal. *Under Construction*

Lake Titicaca

From Puno, we traveled to Copacabana, Bolivia, by bus. Views of the lake could be seen from the highway as it followed the shoreline around to the Bolivian border. There is a lot of lake to drive around. Titicaca is, of course, famous as the highest navigable lake in the world (3810 m) and the largest lake in South America. From Copacabana, we ventured across Lake Titicaca by hydrofoil. We saw the Island of the Moon and the Island of the Sun, legendary home of Manco Capac, the first Inca king. The Uros people in their reed boats came out to fish and show us their craftsmanship. At Huatajata, the hydrofoil's destination across the lake, a bus took us on to La Paz.
