Flying Down to Quito

An early morning (departure at 5:30 a.m. from Tocumen Airport) Ecuatoriana flight from Panama City to Quito  provided my first view of the Andes. After an intermediate stop in Cali, the Andes began to unfold--sometimes just outside the Lockheed Electra's windows. The peaks were so close it seemed you could touch them! As the flight neared Quito, Cotopaxi could be see off in the distance. Quito truely was up in the mountains.
