Songkran day 1! Actually, it doesn't officially start until tomorrow, but there was plenty of water-fighting going on. We got in to the train station around noon-ish, checked in the the guesthouse and put on some bathing suits, and hit the 7-11 for vodka and water guns. There was about 15 people with our group stationed road side along the moat, along with a couple hundred other people. The roads are completely packed with people in the back of trucks with huge bins of ice cold water that they splash on the people who are roadside. We had one adorable little Thai boy hanging out with us, and he'd refill our buckets and water guns for us from the moat. It was so cute! After a few hours of that, we came back to the guesthouse to shower and get ready for dinner at Miguel's, the awesome Mexican restaurant. After dinner and a margarita bucket, we headed over to a little area of bars, and spent the rest of the evening at one with awesome live music. It was so so much fun! Aly, Ben, Bertus and I all did a countdown at midnight – though we don't actually think thats a Thai thing, it felt like New Years at home! We tried to find a pool to jump in on the walk back, but were unsuccessful – which was probably for the better!
