Florence and the Ponte Vecchio

Our drive to Florence from Pisa was definitely a pleasant one and it didn't take long before we found ourselves looking for somewhere to park the car for a bit. We had thought we might like to stay the night in the city, but some guide book investigations and a trip to an internet cafe indicated we were probably better off spending the day in Florence and then travelling out again for accommodation. So it was off to the Ponte Vecchio for us!
Florence itself was very pretty but we thought it was overly touristy after quaint little Pisa and were not hugely disappointed to move on at the end of our day. Finding the hotel we had our eye on outside the city was another matter all together. We seemed to get to the general area with no problems, but locating this address was nearly impossible... we stopped a bunch of times, got incoherent directions from helpful Italian locals, walked into people's properties in the dark, dodged traffic and cricled the same roundabout some 16 times before FINALLY accidentally coming across this bloody hotel, which turned out to be actually really nice, very reasonably priced and a good choice but for the poor directions. A quick trip to a local deli armed us with cheese, wine and nibbles as a precursor to dinner in the hotel and we retired to bed exhausted but happy and ready for our next destination... Verona!
