Arte en el Parque

Ciudad Juarez Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

Following the trend of blogs about the life and history in people's own city or region I've decided to create a separate Blog for Juarez and Chihuahua region because, to be honest, it wouldn't be fair (to the other states) if I included them in my other blog.
Arte en el Parque (Art at the Park) is one of my favourite events here in Ciudad Juárez. From April to september, every last saturday of the month you get the chance to experience this event. The price is 30 pesos ($3USD) Kids and 40($4USD) pesos Adults (prices rounded up). This event has several sections going on at the same time:

*Food Section: In here you can buy several types of food, most of them are quite typical of Mexico like Enchiladas, Enmoladas, tacos and some others. There are also Hamburgers and Raspas available if you don't like thinks with chili.

*Kids section: In here Kids get to do several activities, like puppet shows, painting lessons and some sort of works of art ;) (yes I know, I can't appreciate kids' art)

*Cultural Bazaar: Here you can find all sorts of art from the local artists. It ranges from paintings to books to Henna Tatoos. most of them you can also buy, including some of the handcrafts from the locals.

*Main Court: Of course, this is the main entertainment. Here you can watch folkloric dances, and all sorts of music from local, national and sometimes international artists. Most of the activities that happen in here, will of course depend on which month it is because the theme varies.

hmm ... looks more like an AD than a riview, but I don't care, I love going there and spending the whole saturday afternoon in there. Even if I do have some allergies and we're sitting in the grass. =)

Ah, that is what they're called. Had one of those waiting for a bus in Flores. :) It was green.

A raspa o raspado is kind of like a "snow cone". It's a dessert made of shaved ice and a flavoured syrup.
