The last leg of the drive was exciting. That road is made through dry rocky hills. We could see these dry hills on the right side of the road and beautiful Arabian sea behind the hills on the left.
We reached Qantab beach at around 8:30 am. There were many fisherman who offered boat rides to the inside beach. We hired one boat after chilling out at Qantab beach for a while. The boat ride was good. However, looking back I feel it was a bit risky. ( Check this for more on it http://www.kishorcariappa.com/2008/12/disaster-waiting-to-happen-at-qantab.
There was a big rock in the sea and a small tunnel was made through it. Awaiting to get through that tunnel, actually getting through it and then looking back at it was probably the the best part of the entire boat ride. We reached the inside beach in some 20 minutes or so. The boatman left us immediately and promised to come back after a couple of hours to take us back.
As we had expected there was no one else on the beach. The beach was beautiful and serene. The sea water was crystal clear. We were amazed to see different colours and shades of the sea water. There were no waves hitting the beach. This made it an extremely quiet and peaceful place.
There was a small rocky hill just behind the beach. Some of us climbed half the hill. The view of the beach and the sea from the mountain was truly magnificent.
We played in the sea. The sea caught good bit of depth from very near of the shore and hence we were careful while playing.
Just as we were planning to relax ourselves, we saw the boatman coming back. Yes, it was time to say good-bye to this beautiful beach.
I made a resolve to visit this place on my next visit to Oman. Till then I'll continue to cherish the blissful memories of Qantab.
