Grandma June (Sylvia's mom)

                                                                                                              Ready.... Set.... GO!

We got to mom and Dad's at 7 AM.  We packed the car and checked the house and were on the road within a half hour.

....  We ate breakfast in Fortuna .... which is barely a half hour out of town .... but Mom and Helen needed to take their pills.  Breakfast took a little longer than we had hoped.... I discovered I had grabbed the wrong card for my camera (a full one) so we swung into Walgreens for a new one.   We put Momma Mia into the DVD player and took off again....

We stopped a few times to stretch as we drove....  We called  our daughter Tara (she lives in Santa Rosa) and met her at Carrows for lunch...  The lunch was actually below par but we did enjoy the company.   We drove to Tara's house and had coffee.  We enjoyed seeing our grandcats, Duck and Macaroon.  Tara's husband, Robert, came home and we saw him for a few minutes before we left.

Our Daughter Tara
That was a nice surprise.   He has a great sense of humor so naturally, Dad and he harassed each other until we left.

We had fairly smooth sailing going from Santa Rosa to Galt although we began driving at 4:30 and expected the worst....  We hit one period of about 20 minutes of bumper to bumper traffic and the rest was shockingly open and clear.... Hooray .... but we don't know how we managed it....  We arrived to Galt around 7:00

We went to dinner at my Dad's sister's house.  Gail and Larry.   Gail made a huge dinner for us: Enchiladas, homemade refried beans and home made salsa, tortilla chips, rice, salad and lemon cool whip dream cake.   We stayed there until around 11 then David, myself and Helen drove to the Galt Comfort Inn.

Helen's room was huge but ours was much smaller.... but it's just for one night....  Our room was very quiet and really clean.  Tomorrow we'll go to Gail and Larry's for brunch then drive to Bakerfield....

So there you have it.....  A six hour trip stretched into almost 12 but everyone is having fun.   Tomorrow is the second travel day and then on the third day we'll arrive at Helen's house in Bullhead City.   This isn't how David and i usually travel but it hasn't been bad at all....   :)    .....    Kind of a boring day but it had it's good parts too....
