White Beyonces on the Salinar Salt Flats
So after some memorable times in Potosi I headed off to Uyuni a jumping point for the famous Bolivian salt flat tour! Sadly the clan wasnt all there and three off the lads took off to Iquique for warmer weather and waves but i wasnt going to miss out on seeing my favourite bird in the wild the pink flamingo!
The tour was a mixed bag, we saw some of the most unreal scenery yet and the group was awesome we had lots of laughs getting naked pics on the salt flats (showing off our white beyonces) and generally drinking copious amounts of rum and vodka too stay warm but the tour guide was too say the least not so accomodating and i guess a little burnt out, the hordes of flamingoes were not existent and we only managed too see about 5-10 and many of the big lakes were dryed out subsequently the famous mirage photos were not possible! Nevertheless we had a blast and i must say it was a very unique experince indeed! Be prepared to get naked, sleep in minus 20 degrees but have an awesome hot spring bath the following morning, maybe bring gas masks as 7 ppl jammed into a 4wd with no real showers for 3 days are rather smelly ppl and of course bring some props for creative photos on the Salinar!
Now i would love to go through day to day events but ill let the photos do the talking but the highlights are definately the salt flats, geyers and hot springs and if you go in the right time of the year the lakes would probably be awe inspiring too! So now i am really fed up with the cold and are heading to Iquique for some warmer weather and waves but ill be back to Bolivia cant miss La Paz!!! Stay safe and enjoy your travels, peace!
