Ok, so my German is not as good as President Kennedy, but I did feel a connection to the city. I took a few days to do the tourist things including the Reichstag, or the capital building of Germany. I had a great time here. Took the over night train from Paris and really enjoyed it. The space had sleepers for three and I met two other guys from Berlin, Alex was Danish and worked in a small town outside of Berlin and Daniel, who was from Paris and lived and worked in Berlin. These guys were really nice and we had pleasant conversations.
Arrived early into snowy Berlin and had a great time visiting all the major sights around town. Had the opportunity to visit place that were restricted before the wall fell as well as those place that I had a chance to visit 20 years ago. Although I wasn’t at the actual speech then President Reagan delivered to the people of the city of Berlin, the country of Germany, the leader of the Soviet Union and all citizens of the world, I did get to go and visit about 2 weeks after that. I have a piece of the wall with me and went back to the spot where I did get that piece. Didn’t find anything, but the feeling was incredible. Saw a lot more that I really enjoyed and will comment on it all later.
