In the footsteps of Herod the Great

Our last two days in Jordan were full of action items - visit Karak & Shobak, Mt. Nebo & Madaba, hike Wadi Mujib, tour Amman.... However, once we checked into the Jordan Valley Marriott and saw the Dead Sea we decided to stay put. After almost 3 weeks of action packed fun and adventure, we floated & bobbed, slathered ourselves with mud, sat in the hot tub, ate a bit, drank a lot, looked across to the West Bank, and relaxed. (Thank you Steve for your Marriott friends & family deal!!!)
It was easy to do - our hottest days were here - maybe because of the altitude (400m+ below sea level = the lowest place on Earth). The hotel was fabulous, with several pools and whirlpools, a gorgeous spa, 12 restaurants & bars, many with views of the Sea. And we were told both the water of the Dead Sea and the surrounding area were full of wonderfully healthy 'things' guaranteed to cure everything from psoriasis to cystic fibrosis! Who can argue with thousands of years and the likes of King David, Aristotle and Cleopatra?
So, even though this area is steeped in history - we just bobbed like corks in the Sea, baked in the sun and the mud, and enjoyed this beautiful, peaceful and healthy spot.
Now I have a reason to return, since I missed seeing all the other stuff, and what a wonderful place to start my next adventure....
