13km beach, book said it's 2nd longest beach in the world..
I did not sleep well on the coach to Chennai, cause the tragedy happened slowly when I were in Trichy.. My old wound of left leg had been recured.. I couldn't believe it.. it's first time happened without any reason.. I couldn't stop thinking what I suppose to do.. my trip just began, how could go to next destination?? I walked as a lame, especially climbing the stairs.. how can I go to the other world heritages, since most of them must be up and down... ><
Originally, I was planning to visit Mamallapuram today and Puducherry in 6,Jan,2010 for Internation Yoga Festival.
I was shock no cafe or restaurant alone the beach.. I sat at the beach for relaxing.. a vendor came to sell peanuts.. I said "no", he still wraped a pack and said "IR5" to me.. Then, I got my breakfast~~ haha.. the peanuts was really delicious~
. however, my left leg was shouting "are you sure? are you sure?" I struggled with what to do next.. should I keep travel with slow walk and as a lame? or should I go to see the doctor now? or should I wait for few days to see if it will recover by self?
I, finally, decided I should have some rest, since the Marina Beach is world-famous. I should go to beach and looking for a cafe sit back and relaxing as a leisure type tourist.. the most importantly, give my leg some break and pray hard for my leg being well soon.. I took bus to beach.. it's really huge and long coast line.. from bus stop to the sea.. took me about 10 min by slow walking.. I couldn't find any cafe.. so I was sitting on beach and listening to the sound of the waves, and felt a bit miserable for myself.
It's Indian beach.. hahah.. the old man even laundry by sea..
. my leg is in pain, no food to eat, about 2 week trip left, can I survive in India?
I read my guidebook on the beach.. There are no interesting place for me in Chennai.. I don't know it's because my leg issue or Chennai isreally not attract me.. Anyway, I was told Elliot's Beach, where is very down to Marina Beach, has very nice cafe"S". I decided to go there for lunch and afternoon rest.. Before that, I wanted to go to St. Mary Church first for praying and seeing the oldest English architecture, built 1694 to 1732..
St. Mary Church is not alone the road.. the driver took 2 times to find.. it's among Fort St. George.. I went throught secuity check and sign my name with showing my passport. It is unexpected a nice "little town", truly peaceful and clean.
about 11:00.. the beach was full of people.. the intersting thing is the Indian woman wearing the tradition costume and having fun on the beach..
. not like India I visited few days ago.. I felt more hygiene and decided to have my lunch here.. Eventually, I stayed in Fort St. George for noting but peace entire afternoon..
I read the map of Chennai.. I found there is a "Fort" train station just out of Fort St. George. According to the map, the railway seems toward to airport.. I tried many different kind of transportation, now is time to try going to airport by train.. I thought if there is no station in airport, I could go the closest one.. then exchange autorishaws and it will be cheaper.. So, I looked for the map, the most close one is "Palavanthangal"..
I walked throught the Fort and went to train station. I looked for the ticket info on the wall.
Finally, I found a small but clean cafeteria in Fort St George.. I decided to have my lunch here.. Masala Dosa cost only IR12.. inexpensive and tasty~
. There are no station name called "Airport", however, I saw "Palavanthangal" on the list.. 2nd class is about IR380 and 1st class is like IR500.. I thought "wow, so expensive".. When I went to ticketing, I asked if any train go to airport? The booking clerk said "yes, IR6". I thought "IR6"?? maybe she didn't understand my English.. I asked again "how much to airport?" Replied "IR6".. "What?? IR6??" I asked again "sorry, are you saying IR6? or IR60 or IR600??".. I was thinking, the airport is further than "Palavanthangal" which is cost IR380 for 2nd class. How come only IR6 to airport?.. The clerk lost her temper and also the next customer.. he came closer to help and said "yes, IR6".. I hesitated to gave the clerk IR10, they asked for IR1.. till this moment, I still no sure if they understand I am going to AIRPORT!!! Luckily, the customer who helped me buying ticket is a truly kind and nice man.. chatted with me and tell me the price on the wall is for cab kind of transportation, not train.. hahah.. what a misundertood! He also got off the train to show me how to go airport.. After that, he gave me his contact way and invite me to travel to his city, Puducherry.. It's a nice ending of my first step of Indian trip.. now is the time fly to north.. new journey is going to start~
