A Thursday evening at the Meat Market

Kødbyens Fiskebar is yet another of these new trendy place in the area around Halmtorvet and the old Meat Market in Copenhagen. During the last couple of year this area has been lifted from being one the worst areas in Copenhagen to one of the more trendy ones.
In this area you can find places like Mesteren & Lærlingen, Paté Paté, and Jolene and so on. Kødbyens Fiskebar is a place that wants to give you a taste of the best fish dishes in a trendy environment.
When you enter you are greeted by some smiling persons behind a large long bar where you can wait if you haven’t booked a table for the evening. We had booked and were escorted to our table by a sweet young waitress with a winning smile.
We started by ordering some beers to enjoy while we were studying the menu. The waitress told us that the dishes were not too big so a couple of guys like us could easily eat two starters. I had heard this from others that had been there so I was not surprised. We took then both a warm and a cold starter and a main dish. We also ordered the dry white house wine which turned out to be both fair priced and tasty.
The food was truly excellent but as told and expected the portions were in the small end of the scale especially the cold starters. The warm starters were nice and here we both had Kødbyens Fiskebar's version of fish and chips. The main courses were close to fabulous; we had both chosen the brosme brosme which is a kind of cod.
The interior is modern and clean; almost like a Nordic version of the Japanese cold design. In the middle of the restaurant the bar had taken most of the space; next to where we were seated there were a giant lamp with an inbuilt aquarium.
