I trip to visit a puppy i'm getting that turned into a 4 day vacation through Seattle Washington, Vancouver & Victoria Canada.

Seattle, Day #2

Pike Market

We woke up fairly early to get a start on our day. We headed over to the Pike Street Market on Pike & 1st. This is where I had the best donuts ever at this little stand called ‘Daily Donuts.’ They have a little machine that makes all the donuts right there in front of you and you can buy a dozen or a half dozen. We bought two half dozen for under $3.00. I recommend the Cinnamon and Sugar ones! MMMM

We walked around a bit after that and shopped like crazy amd then decided to start driving up to Vancouver Canada. We left at 1pm on Friday and this apparently is a bad idea (It took us 5 hours to get to Vancouver, much longer than usual).

The Daily Donut at the Pike Market....a must see spot in Seattle.
The traffic was pretty steady and busy and once we got to the Border it was packed. I think we sat there waiting to get through for at least an hour. (Tip: If you want to cheat and have everyone hate you….there is an exit right before the border, if it’s backed up to that exit, then take it. Then get right back on the freeway…you’ll skip ahead like 40 cars. We didn’t do this cleaver move but plenty of people did it to us. Damn them. Or if you choose to be nice and not do that, then stay in the Left lane! The on ramp people smoosh into the right lane so it never moves)

Vancouver is very clean, they fine up to $2,000 if they catch you littering and they have a well run recycling program. We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel, which was nice as well (not as good of beds as the Crown though) but we had a great view of the Burrard inlet, it’s nice to have ocean front. We headed down to the famous Robson Street with all the fancy high end shops, lots of tourism. Interesting to know, there is a large Asian population in Vancouver, they make up I think 40% of the total population.
