A Philly Christmas III

I decided to seek out more Christmas things in the City of Brotherly Love. This entry will be a combination of different days, as I would see a little bit on each day.
I would arrive into Philly from the suburbs, at night time, since this was the best time to see the Christmas lights. Plus I still wanted to maintain the annual Christmas traditions, like seeing the Macy's Christmas Light Show and the Dickens Village. I have already talked about those attractions and the Christmas Village earlier in this blog. This entry will be about more things to see.
But before I get to them, I should mention that I did see window displays at the Macy's store, with scenes from "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I have not seen it for some time, but always thought the cartoon was a bit mean-spirited.
Some of the things that I would see...
1. Christmas tree at City Hall - how did I not notice this at all? There is a tree lighting ceremony at the start of the season, which I am sure, is really crowded. Really nice to look at, and worth a look, when going between the Macy's department store and the Christmas Village at Love Park. Sometimes, the lights in the surrounding area, blink to some Christmas tunes.
2. Comcast Holiday Spectacular, which is a holiday show in the Comcast Center, which itself, is the tallest building in Philly. More about the holiday show in the review here.
3. Rittenhouse Square - the public park in downtown area.
4. Jewelers' Row - a small stretch of Samson Street, full of jewelry stores and appraisers. Jewelers' Row is the oldest diamond district in the US, dating back to 1799. When seeing the photos of it, I thought there would be a lot of lights. But photos can be deceiving, as it turned out, not nearly as many as I expected. It was okay to look at, but only worth seeing if I was passing along the way.
I hope to see more Christmas attractions in the city, like the Winterfest at Penn's Landing. But it is really out-of-the-way, and quite a walk to get to. So I will have to save it for another time. Hopefully, within this Christmas year.
Seeing Christmas attractions like these and more, has renewed the Christmas spirit in me somewhat. Now, I want to see what other cities are like, during Christmas time.
