temple of apollo
we woke up today and decided to go into the town of aegina because there was really nothing to do in agia marina.. we had a nice breakfast of toast and cheese and jam and butter and chocolate and ham etc.. at the hotel and waited for the bus to come.. the bus actually only come every 2 or 3 hours i think. so we caught the second earlist bus which was around 1020am. on a side note. whenever we pass by a shop that is open the people always say hello which was nice of them. we got on the bus. mostly old folks going to market i guess.. and we arrive in aegina 30 mins later. we walk towards the temple of appollo which was a 3 euro entrance fee. but we were allowed to walk and touch the ruins so i guess it was worth it. there were old ruin houses around the temple and there were some expanation of the growth of the town around this temple.
. pretty interesting. the day was hot so we could walk around with shirt and no jacket. after a walk around the temple we head towards the little streets and markets and walk and walk..and walk.. the streets where nice and clean and we saw a few churches too.. then off for lunch were again we had gyros. we walked along the short stretch of rocky sand they called the beach.. full of trash and broken bottles. then decided to cath the bus back to agia marina around 2. (which was the last bus into that town) . again we had alot of time on our hands so we decided to walk up the mountain. ( i didnt decide it, grzechu did) but since we had nothing else to do i said why not.. there was really a path that leads up.. we had to make our own.
. so after going through what i assume was other peoples property.. and forests and rocks.. we reach the highest point of the mountain. ( i didnt actually reach the highest point but grzechu did) but it was close enough. the sun was about to set so we decided to walk back down before we couldnt see where we were going.. then we decided to walk around town toward the abandoned hotel.. this hotel is the biggest construction building in town and it was just left there un finished with graffitie and stagnant water in the swimming pool and goats roaming the property. it spoiled the great views of the island.. i guess the people ran out of money or something. we then decided to walk along the beach . there were 2 old men fishing and a lady walking her 2 small dogs.. grzechu was trying to find seashells but there werent really any... then it was time for dinner.. i had the....i forgot.. maybe it was the pasta.. or maybe it was chicken? it was good though.
