today is a sad and happy day for our little group.. lili is leaving us for the middle east.. but she is very excited and so are we.. we say our goodbyes and start the day off by having a great breakfast at nicks corner.
we then take the metro to pireus port to catch the flying dolphin to aegina.. the island off the coast of mainland greece. the trip to the island was 45 mins i think. and it cost 14 euros one way.. the flying dolphin was a fast boat so it will take a little over an hour if you take that route but its 9 euros... we arrive in the port of aegina.. we then wait for the bus to agia marina.. the buses come not very often.. maybe 4 times a day? and it takes 40 mins to get to the little town.. the roads were narrow and the bus driver was very skillfull in avoiding parked cars and buildings along the way.
. when we arrive in the little town of agia marina.. everything was closed... the streets were empty.. there were a few shops open.. and whenever we pass them they say hello and try to get us to come inside.. i think its because we are the only 2 tourist on this side of the island.. we find our hotel called the hotel liberty which overlooks the beach.. we were greated by a nice old lady and her grandson who run the hotel.. after getting settled in.. we head back into town and to the only restaurant that seemed to be open.. we had pasta cause we wanted something different other than greek food. it was good food! and after we were done.. we had plenty of time to spare so we decided to walk up to the temple of the nymph.. the hike was pretty good.. worked up a sweat.. had to pay.. 3 euros for the entrance i think.. but there was only me and grzechu there.. then 2 other people showed up... after that we walked around the hills toward this monestary then back down into town.. at night we headed back into the same restaurant and we had pizza! it was good pizza and then saw a great sunset.. there was really nothing to do there since the town is really a summerplace... i can see how it can be fun in the summer but its really empty in winter. so dont come here in winter.. unless you like the solitude.
