Not long to go!!!!
So here we are, final day on the bike. Lompoc to Santa Barbara - 50 plus miles, but who cares? With the end in sight, I could push as hard as I wanted, and in the end, I was at my destination by 2pm - the miles literally flew by. Rising not-so gently through scrub covered cattle country, this would be my last morning on Highway One. At the top of the final big hill of my journey, PCH 1 joins Interstate 101 for the last 25 miles or so into Santa Barbara

Once I hit the coast, it was just a matter of following the 101 along the coast, past pretty state beaches at Gaviota, Refugio and El Capitan, before Coromar and Gaviota signal the start of Santa Barbara. As ever, a map was superfluous in the land of the helpful - paused by the side of road looking for my turn-off to catch the coastal route into town, a black-windowed SUV rolled up next to me, the window sliding done to reveal a stunningly beautiful woman asking me if I was lost - a real pleasure.

Dinner was at the expensive but awesome Sojourners Vegetarian Cafe, then a few drinks at a back street bar recommended by my server, and I was done, annoyed only by the fact that I had to leave tomorrow.
