I was citizen 147 for a night.
Some traditions are good. Especially when they're fun. The annual Inferior Zulu's Road Trip is such a tradition. The name refers to Derk,  Biedjee and myself originated at one of our mutual trips to a music convention (it's actually a word play on the Marillion song Interior Lulu) and somehow it stuck, as the tradition of undertaking an annual trip did. Where we sampled the Guinness of Dublin last year, this year we'd opted for the raki, kofta, kebab and sheesha of Istanbul.

Well ... actually the earliest form of the plan had been to take a trip to Prague. But that was before Biedjee decided to go on a nine-month journey from Kiev (Ukraine) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
I have seen the light ! (Didn't expect it to be in the shower)
He then suggested that we would take Kiev as our destination, conveniently at the start of his itinerary. But when one of my colleagues from the Ukraine claimed that Kiev was okayish and did not seem all that enthusiastic we quickly exchanged it for the probably more interesting location of Istanbul. By the time Derka and I would arrive Biedjee had already been travelling for 3 weeks and had been in Turkey for a week. We would fly down there to meet him for five days of sightseeing and more.

It was actually one of those ideas that was arranged at the speed of light when it popped-up. We immediately agreed and tickets were booked. And so on April 27th, barely two weeks after returning from Lapland I found myself heading for Schiphol again by train. But this time the evening before our morning flight was a bit of an adventure itself ! I'd be staying in the CitizenM hotel. In the attached review you'll see why I was so excited about this.

After playing with all of the room options for an hour or two I went down to the lobby to have a few beers in the lounge and when I went to sleep I quickly dozed away in the king-size bed with the fluffy pillows.
