Daytrip to Stonehenge
Rather than driving to Stonehenge, we decided to take a train. So, we rode from the city to Salisbury, which took about 1.5 hours and was quite relaxing. Once we got to Salisbury, we got on a bus that took us to Amesbury (Stonehenge is just outside Amesbury). We were so thankful that we were on a bus that took us right to the Stonehenge parking lot, as the traffic was insane. We decided not to pay the money to get into the attraction because we noticed that, even when inside the fence, you had to stay on a path that went around the rocks. The path was not very much closer than the fence that surrounded it, so we just stood outside the fence. I bet our pictures are just as good as anyone's who paid the money to get a few feet closer.
We spent about half an hour at Stonehenge, then got back on a bus (there are quite a few that go back and forth) and went back to Amesbury, where we bought sandwiches from a grocery store to eat for lunch. We walked to a little river (River Avon) and sat beside it to eat our meal. Once done, we got back on a bus and headed to Avebury. Here, we visited Avebury Stone Circle, otherwise known as Aveburyhenge. Here, you can actually touch the rock formations, and even sit on them if you want. It was cool. We also watched a cricket game that was being played nearby. When done, we went back to Salisbury on the bus, then got back on the train and headed for London.
