these are the Henty Sand Dunes near strahan
So it is xmas eve and i have no one to spend it with, which is odd considering i never really care about xmas back home, it is always so commercial i find it revolting, but now i have a serious case of homesickness and want to be as far away from Australia as possible to be with friends and family, but then something happened and took it all away and made me glad that i made this decision. strahan is a little town located on the west coast of Tassie, and it has a bigger harbor then Sydney (don't ask me were it is cause i didn't see it, but that's what they say). Liz and I decide to go out with a couple others to have local fish and chips, they have some of the best around.

as we were walking down the street this pick up comes up the hill, with a bunch of kids in the back and they attack us with water balloons, then coming up behind it is the fire truck with more people on top, this time they are using the blast cannon on top to get people in the streets.
i raced up the front so i would be the first. this is the rest of the group
so like the champion i am i grab Liz and forcefully hold her in front of me as a human shield as i duck behind her so i don't get wet. it was like a Disney version of mad max, the whole town was in a water fight, even Santa was throwing down!. the greatest thing i saw was a police officer  in his car stopped to talk to another motorist and pulled a water gun and sprayed the person, then drove off laughing. i think this will be the only time in my life when i see a police officer do a drive by.

we finally reached the center of town and it was pure chaos, everything was covered in water, only the bar and a couple specific shops seemed to be safe havens (luckily enough the fish place was one of them)

i had decided to have flake at this restaurant it was my first time having, flake is shark (from my understanding the specific shark it is is called gummy shark) it was amazing.

after the experience in town i was cured of my sickness, i was glad i was not at home, because i would never get to experience such zaniness (is that even a word? or did  i make up another one?), sure i miss my friends and family but i know they will be there when i get back, but who knows what else i could be missing if i decided to stay home. so even know tomorrow is going to be xmas and i will be so lonely i have to keep my eye on the big picture.
