Malawi- Yeah

The lake is the main draw. It is amazing. It is called an inland sea, for good reason which is why I decided to spend a week in the middle-north of the lake to learn to scuba dive.

In order to leave the country to the north, you have to climb the Great Rift Valley. It is 2000+ feet elevation gain over 35km. The biggest hill by far at this point. It was fun.

But the next day's ride back down to the far north of the lake was great. It was an amazing river valley. It ended on cliffs overlooking the lake. The best riding since Cape Town.

The one down side of Malawi was the children begging. I was so used to Zambia were kids asked "How are you?" In Malawi they all pretty much drop their voice and say "give me my money". Who teaches there kids to beg? I know they are much poorer then us. But they can and do provide for themselves either by farming or fishing. How do you have pride or self worth begging? There are by no means so poor they need to beg.

I stopped once for some lunch. While eating, a lizard fell from the roof. He was pretty confused about what just happen. I was pretty happy he didn’t land in my food.
