Many modern buildings line the streets of Durban
While we enjoyed walking around durban is reletive peace we were warned not to venture too far from the center or waterfront. The victoria market is a no go by yourself. There is a nice shopping mall in the center as well as some nice old buildings. Best of all is the City Hall. We went down to the Golden Mile. Walked along the seafront. All was well. We walked one block in and when we walked into a store the owner came up to us and told us we are being watched and we should get out of there as fast as posible because the kids outside will kill us for our cameras. My girlfriend got very scared and we got back to Marine Parade and got into a taxi and hitailed it out of there. Granted we were there in the winter off season. I am sure that in summer when many people are there, there is safty in numbers. However be carefull.

I would love to visit South Africa but I don't for the exact reason - I'm always hearing stories of theft and stuff. Thanks for your honest review.
