Beautiful snow, great shadows
On Friday we went up to the Solitude Nordic Center to go snowshoeing. The Nordic Center It is absolutely beautiful. The groomed trails for skiing go around the lake that is now frozen & covered with a foot of snow. However, it is interesting that the deer don't walk on the lake. Their tracks go up to the edge of the lake & then around it.  There are a multitude of trails that are groomed once there is enough snow to start grooming. One trail goes down to Redman at Solitude and back up to the Nordic Center.

The snowshoe trails go all over the place, around the lake & through the trees. It is a fun place to ski & snowshoe. The quiet is great. Every now & then I stopped & just listened to the silence.

This is such a great place if you like to ski groomed trails in peace & quiet. There are acres & acres of trails. You could ski all day & never ski the same trail twice. There are easy to difficult trails. We were there for several hours & maybe we saw a half dozen people.

UTA runs buses up & down the Canyon all day long from the parking lot at the mouth of the canyon so you don't have to drive the canyon if that sort of thing spooks you. UTA bus system The last bus runs well after dark, so you have plenty of time to eat in one cafes before going back down the canyon if you want to.

The Center offers lessons with rental gear or you can use your own, which ever you want. The staff is very congenial & patient.
